Stephen puts it plainly: his skull jewelry represents sculptural beauty, mortality and history. The Victorians wore skulls to remember the dead and their own mortality; pirates and the Knights Templar wore them as a warning; today it's the most-worn symbol of not caring what the neighbours think. A skull ring worn facing out is a statement; worn facing in, it's private. Either way it's a gift that says you know who they are.

Engraving
Engraved on the inside
Most of the skull rings and bangles can be engraved by hand on the inside: a date, initials, a line. The signets take initials on the face. From $10 an engraving. Engraved pieces can't be returned, so if you're unsure of the size, order it plain and we'll engrave it together afterwards.
The giving
A black heart they have to break
We wrap the piece in soft cloth and seal it inside a plaster heart, hand painted in the color you choose. Black is available. To reach what's inside, they have to crack it open.

It's a good gift for anyone who already wears one, and it isn't bad luck: in most traditions the skull is a memento mori, a reminder to live, and in some it wards off evil. The people who'd mind are the ones who don't wear skulls, and you already know which kind you're buying for.

Borrow a ring they wear on that finger and measure the inside across, press it into soap, or send us a photo on a ruler. Or make your best guess and order: an unworn ring can be exchanged for the right size within 14 days. Bracelets on leather adjust; the bangles come in three sizes.
