Nigo, the founder of A Bathing Ape, bought our jewelry in Japan in the 1990s and asked Stephen to work with him. In our London workshop we made rings, keyrings and Fire Gardens for A Bathing Ape in the late 1990s, and the ring and the Fire Garden again in 2022. None of them is made now; this page is the record.

How it started

From Paul Smith's shops in Japan to the Design Museum in London.

Paul Smith

In the 1990s Stephen designed men's jewelry for Paul Smith, sold in his shops around the world. The ranges became popular in Japan.

Nigo

Nigo, the founder of A Bathing Ape, bought several of our pieces for himself, then asked Stephen to collaborate.

Late 1990s

The first Stephen Einhorn x A Bathing Ape ring and Fire Garden, with keyrings, candle cards and chocolates made for A Bathing Ape in Japan.

2022

More than twenty years later we made the ring and the Fire Garden again, sold in BAPE stores in Japan, Hong Kong, the United States and the UK.

2026

The Design Museum in London held NIGO: From Japan with Love, the first museum retrospective of his work, from 1 May to 4 October 2026.

2022

The ring, made again

A remake of the ring we made for A Bathing Ape in the late 1990s: the enamelled BAPE logo on a wide silver band, with a more comfortable shape and more weight than the original. Made by hand in our London workshop as a limited run, now sold out.

The Fire Garden

A night light: four apes hold their hands out to a flame, the discovery of fire. The apes and the candle are arranged in sand however you like.
