Amethyst, February Birthstone Jewelry

Amethyst is the birthstone for February. Some people think that it’s a bit mystical and apparently it has been used to protect from poison. I don’t mean to

Silver Lioness ring, Love necklace and Cupcake charm, each set with purple amethysts, on a white background

Amethyst is the birthstone for February. Some people think that it’s a bit mystical and apparently it has been used to protect from poison. I don’t mean to sound cynical but if you were wearing a lovely amethyst ring and someone puts arsenic in your tea, do you think you would survive? I’d say unlikely! In reality it’s quite simply a beautiful purple stone and we LOVE it!

Which stone is February's birthstone in the UK?

Amethyst, on both the UK list (set by the National Association of Goldsmiths in 1937) and the American list. It is a purple quartz, from pale lilac to deep violet.

The heartbreak heart: a hand-painted plaster heart broken open to reach the piece inside

The giving

A heart they have to break

Every piece arrives in a Stephen Einhorn box. For the ones that should be remembered, we wrap the piece in soft cloth and seal it inside a plaster heart, hand painted in the colour you choose. To reach what is inside, they have to crack it open.

Personalised

Engraved by hand

Almost everything we make can be engraved by hand in our workshop: initials on the face of a signet, a date inside a ring, a line only they will understand. Engraved pieces cannot be returned, so if you are unsure of the size, order it plain and we will engrave it afterwards.
